Description

These T3 test cases present two-dimensional boundary layers over a flat plate which undergo bypass transition. The tests include flows with and without pressure gradient (see flow parameters), none of which have any temperature variations. The experimental geometry is shown below and consists of a flat test plate with grids mounted upstream which generate the external turbulence. The variable pressure gradient, representing an aft-loaded turbine blade, is imposed by profiling the tunnel wall below the plate.

Flow Parameters

The experiments showed that the flow was "remarkably isotropic over the downstream", therefore the following decay laws can be used to calculate the inlet conditions required for simulations. The official Rolls-Royce values for the experiments are shown opposite.
