Code Saturne selected by EU HPC centres as “petaflop“ benchmarking CFD code
PRACE, “The Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe” is preparing the establishment of petaflop-scale computers at 4 or 5 centres around Europe. A consortium of 16 institutions has selected Code_Saturne as CFD code representative for deployment and benchmarking for Petaflop/s systems, porting, optimising, and peta-scaling of applications.
Daresbury Labs UK, BSC Barcelona, NCF Netherlands, HLRC U. Stuttgard, SNIC Sweden and CSC Finland will be porting Code_Saturne on various HPC platforms and profiling it in minute details (with a number of counter tools, gproof, VAMPIRtrace, PAPI ...) then suggesting best ways to “petascale” the code to 10E15 flop/s.
